Culvers with Christina

I went to my cousins' house today to do laundry (as is my custom on Saturdays). Christina took me back to the dorm, but on the way we stopped at Culvers. Yum! Fun times.
(As you can see, we're both choco-holics. LOL!)

February is Brass Month

So yesterday when I walked into Burkhart Hall I was greeted by this lovely little display. Isn't it cool? I was so excited, because it has my name on it! Very exciting. I love how they promo-ed the brass majors at the expense of all the other recitalists. If you click on the picture to enlarge it, you can see that at the bottom in fine print it says something to the effect of, "Oh yeah, and Daniel Brier is having his violin recital this month, too." He he. Sweet.

SNOW!

It snowed tonight! I was so excited that I ran outside to get a picture in it. =) It snowed some yesterday afternoon, but it wasn't even enough to cover the grass. Hopefully it'll stay long enough that I'll get to go sledding with my cousins this weekend. That would be awesome! =)

The Euphonium Section

Today the band had a seemingly never-ending recording session. My fellow euphonium players and I managed to make the most of it, however, by talking and goofing off in between numbers. And by persecuting the sax players who were sitting in front of us. LOL. Anyway, here's a picture of our section:

First Performance

Triumphant Brass had our first performance today! Exciting. Anyway, I got Dr. Brown to take a picture of our group. It's our first team picture! First performance, first team picture...oh, and the girls went shopping tonight for the first time. We got our first skirt. And we picked out a dress and shirt/skirt set. We just can't get it till we have a school credit card. But once we get those things we're almost done shopping! Which is very happy. Because trying to find outfits can be a real pain. Anyway, here's the picture of us all:

Aren't we adorable? =) What's really funny about this picture is that Dan, Joelle, and David, our tall people, are all on the right and the short people are all on the left.

Great Quote

I found this quote on my friend Stephanie Davis's blog, and I just thought it was so amazing:
“We are half-hearted creatures fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.” ~ C.S. Lewis (in Desiring God by John Piper)
Really puts things into perspective, huh?

Back at School.

Well, I'm back at school. Though I would definetly rather be at home, I have resigned myself to my current situation. It should be a pretty good semester, I think. My class load is lightest it's ever been, but I'm in four performing groups-- Chambers Choir, band, orchestra, and Triumphant Brass, I have a recital coming up in February, and we're doing an operetta towards the end of the semester which the orchestra will be playing for. So I should keep busy. = )
I'm getting really excited for Triumphant Brass! We have our first rehearsal on Wednesday, and our first performance on Friday in chapel. We're already starting to talk about outfits and photo shoots, etc. I'm totally psyched.
Anyway, this is the second post in a row with no pictures (I've been really lax about taking pictures lately.), so before I bore everyone to death, I think I'll sign off. Hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas break as much as I did!

My Vacation

I haven't posted in a really long time, but that's mostly because I have nothing to post about. My break has been relaxing, but very uneventful. Some highlights: seeing my cousins at my granny and grandpa's house, spending time with my best friend and her family (back from China! yay!), Christmas Day (of course), seeing my friends at Panera again, and babysitting. I got to babysit several of the kids from my church on Monday. I had two seven (?) year-olds, a three-year-old, two two-year-olds, and a one-year-old. It made for a pretty crazy evening, but I had a blast.
Tomorrow is my last day at home. = ( I always dread going back to college. Once I get there and get back in the swing of things it should be better. I just miss my friends back home so much. But only three more sememsters! Woo hoo! Signing off now....
